HELLO, I'M ADRIANA A corporate communications professional by day, and climate communicator by night, I have been creating climate and sustainability content for over seven years online and in print. My journey, like any other good journey, started with a blog.
In 2017 I founded Earth Momma Trainee, a blog where I continue to explore the connection between mind, body and earth. I focus on sharing science-based information on climate and sustainability, informed by media literacy and ecospirituality. After I established my blog and presence on social media, I began writing for various green lifestyle magazines and creating social media content for local sustainability organizations. This led me to serve as the VP of Marketing for Arizona Sustainable Apparel Association for two years, assisting with launching a podcast and managing their social media presence. |
I later participated in Sustainable Tucson's first Ambassadors of Sustainability training program and volunteered as an Ambassador of Sustainability for several years before being invited to join Sustainable Tucson's Board of Directors. Now, I serve as the Ward 2 appointee and Vice Chair on the City of Tucson's Commission on Climate, Energy, and Sustainability, and am the Chairperson of the commission's Community Engagement & Communications Subcommittee. In fact, I host the commission's community webpage on my website! A proponent of the Latino environmental movement, I also advocate for climate justice as a member of the nonprofit GreenLatinos.
So why start a new blog since I already have an established one? This corner of the internet will serve as my professional blog, where I share information related to what it means to be a climate communicator. Here, I plan to explore the intersection between media literacy and climate literacy and share how to properly communicate on sustainability topics. In doing so, I hope to trump the immense amount of misinformation and anti-science rhetoric I see in online sustainability discourse. Join me along for the ride!
